Two of London’s iconic sights
Big Ben and Westminster Abbey are located in central London, on the north bank of the River Thames. In this area you can see some of Britain’s most recognisable landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, just a short walk away.
Westminster Abbey is famously used for coronations and royal weddings. The abbey is an architectural masterpiece of the 13th and 16th centuries, with a blend of Gothic and Romanesque styles. Inside, you’ll find tombs and memorials to past kings and queens.
Since 1066, Westminster Abbey has housed every British coronation, as well as countless other royal events. Walk where the royals have been before you and you’ll quickly see why this abbey has hosted so many special events.
Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Clock of Westminster, located on the north end of the Palace of Westminster. You’ll certainly recognise the building, as well as the sound of the bell’s chimes every hour.
If you’re up for climbing 334 steps, you can walk up the spiral stairwell to the Belfry where the Great Bell rings. And don’t worry, ear plugs will be provided on the tour.
