Wildlife and rare plant species
Located in Poolewe, this botanical garden was established in 1862 by Osgood Mackenzie. The garden, located on 49 acres of land, boasts some 2,500 exotic plants and flowers, which flourish in Northern Scotland thanks to the warm currents of the Gulf Stream. From April through late autumn, the gardens are an explosion of colour. They are also very vibrant during the winter months as the bark of the various rhododendron flowers in January and stays colouful year-round.
