Burial place of famous Scottish outlaw
This is the final resting place of one of Scotland’s most famed legends, Rob Roy MacGregor, the “Scottish Robin Hood.” A Jacobite warrior, clan leader, cattle dealer, castle raider, outlaw and — ultimately — folk hero, this rebellious figure has been immortalised in literature and film (played by Liam Neeson in a 1995 biopic) since his death in 1734. There’s even a cocktail named after him, made with Scotch whisky, of course!
Rob Roy’s gravesite — as well as those of his family members — is located in the old churchyard in the village of Balquhidder.
