Award-winning beaches and Victorian arcades
Known as the “Queen of the Welsh Resorts”, Llandudno is the largest seaside town in Wales. Perched on the northwest coast, you’ll soon understand why the town has been well-loved for hundreds of years.
Here, you can admire the refreshing Irish sea that the town is built around and the colourful Victorian-era buildings.
Unwind at one of the sandy beaches that border the town on its north and west shores. You’ll certainly enjoy clean, well-maintained beaches here, because Llandudno North Shore was given the Seaside Award. This means the beach has excellent water for bathing and a very tidy beach.
You won’t want to miss the opportunity to get a birds-eye view of the sprawling shore. Choose between the famous Great Orme Tramway and an alpine cable car to reach the summit of the Great Orme Country Park (“Y Gogarth”).
Or, you can hike up the 679 feet (206 metres) of Great Orme Hill. Savour the striking views of the rugged coastline and of Llandudno itself.
Follow the Alice trail to see Alice in Wonderland-themed statues. The writer, Lewis Carroll, is said to have taken inspiration from this seaside town and to have written part of the book when visiting.
Stroll down the longest pier in Wales and use up your spare change on some of its attractions. This strip is lined with shops, stalls and arcades, so you’ll have plenty to do and to eat. You’ll experience old-school British seaside charm and fun at the Llandudno Pier.
