How to find pharmacies, medical help and emergency assistance
The places you’ll be visiting on your UK adventure are all famously safe for travellers. That being said, we’ve listed some useful information below, just in case of an emergency.
Emergency services
For any life-threatening injuries, call 999 to reach the emergency services, wherever you are in the United Kingdom.
Urgent care
Phone the NHS on 111 to speak with a health care representative and locate the nearest clinic (interpretation services available).
Pharmacies
Phone the NHS helpline at 0800 22 44 88 or look on www.nhs24.com to find your nearest pharmacy.
Major pharmacy chains include Boots and Superdrug, and opening hours are normally 9 AM–6 PM Monday to Friday. On weekends, you can expect them to be open 9 AM–1 PM on Saturdays and to be closed on Sundays.
Dentists
For emergency dental treatment, go to the nearest hospital.
Health insurance
We urge you and all travellers in your party to purchase comprehensive travel insurance ahead of your trip. Insurance is not available through Nordic Visitor and our Cancellation Protection doesn’t replace travel insurance.
Citizens of EEA countries (and Switzerland) must have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or else the patient will be charged in full.
If you’re from another country, you will be charged in full. You can claim money back from your insurer, depending on your policy.
